High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) has become a foundational therapy for patients with acute respiratory failure across emergency and critical care settings. As utilization expands, clinicians are increasingly challenged to balance oxygenation and ventilation support with the need to deliver inhaled medications—often without interrupting therapy or compromising patient comfort. This session provides a practical, evidence-based review of HFNC therapy, focusing on optimizing clinical effectiveness, improving workflow efficiency, and integrating in-line aerosol delivery. Participants will review key physiological and technical factors that influence aerosol deposition during HFNC and explore emerging clinical evidence on safety, feasibility, and outcomes. The session will also highlight bedside best practices for incorporating vibrating mesh nebulization into HFNC workflows to support consistent medication delivery while maintaining continuous respiratory support.
